Artist's Statement
 |
My life is about
the feeling of being in the moment. I have always been interested
in travel and new experience; the overwhelming feeling of being in
a strange place for the first time, the opportunity to step
outside of our 'normal' cultural values and live life from a
different perspective. |
I am so amazed by the intensity and
variety of colors and shapes when I look around at the world, it often
leaves me at a loss for words. Art provides me an opportunity to deal
with inner feelings and share, hopefully create new, feelings with
others. The thoughts, feelings, and processes involved in coming up
with ideas and creating new work provides a connection to the process
of self-discovery, which is life.
|
The interests that have created my
lifestyle have given me the chance to experience so many different
beautiful aspects of the world we live in. My work is an attempt to
create feeling by sharing my 'reflections'. While I can already see an
evolution in the process and subject matter, most of the work to date
has focused on my attempt to share the special feeling I get enjoying
the ocean as a surfer… from the cleansing spiritual feeling of being
in and around the ocean, to the fear and respect for the power and
beauty of waves, and more completely, nature.
My aim is a sharing of perspective, or
offering of a new perspective, through imagery that might offer
someone a new look at nature, in a way they might not otherwise have
had, and hopefully, capturing the intensity and emotion of being there… in
the moment. |

Lifestyle
is very important to me...surfing and the ocean have played a large
part in the development of my lifestyle and my spiritual connection
to our world.

“Taking a glimpse into Kevin Orndorff’s
world, one sees the morning ocean glistening to the reflection of the
sun’s rays and feels the powerful waves breaking above their head. He
portrays these sensations that only a surfer can experience, onto a
single sheet of glass utilizing the technique, Reverse Painting.”
