    In Memoriam

Since our graduation, the Class of '87 has suffered the loss of 5 of its class mates through the years: Joey Barros (1990), Matthew K. Meier (09/25/96) whom passed away of  Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumors (Cancer), Stuart J. Murakami (11/12/02), Randy A. Peters (2/3/08) whom passed away of Sleep Apnea, and most recently Bernard Sean Koahou (4/1/08) whom passed away of Kidney Cancer.

Your continued prayers and support is needed - especially now, in these troubled and hardened economic times - to reach out to their families and loved ones with any gifts, financial donations, or other gestures of Aloha you can provide to keep their memories alive.

As a Class, and thanks in large part to the coordinated efforts led by Keone "Mo" Morreira, and with Antone (Tony) Hall championing the way, our goal has been to be able to provide an eligible St. Louis High School student with finances they may need to further their education after graduation, through fundraising activities, and especially through the SLHS87 Annual Fallen Brothers Memorial Golf Tournament, via the Fallen Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Your contributions of time, talent, and treasure can help to make their passing a gift of life to others.

All your donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE (EIN # 87-0803687).  Here are just a few ways you can make a difference:

Endowment Gifts
Endowment gifts are placed in a permanent fund that allows only earned income to be spent. The larger the corpus of the endowment, the more income will be realized by the Saint Louis Class of 1987 Fallen Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Matching Gifts
Participating companies match the amount of dollars given to Saint Louis School by their employees or retirees. The company matches a gift after the donor sends his or her donation along with the company's matching gift form. These forms can be obtained from the personnel offices of companies that offer matching gifts.

Planned or Deferred Gifts
Panned or deferred gifts of supporting the
Saint Louis Class of 1987 Fallen Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund in which a gift's use by the Fund is postponed until a specified future date. An example of a planned gift would be naming the Fund as a beneficiary in one's will. This serves to reduce the size of the taxable portion of an estate and can lower federal estate tax liability. Through a charitable gift annuity, a donor may contribute cash, appreciated stock or real estate. This annuity will provide you with a guaranteed income for life; reduce the size of your taxable estate as well as other tax savings while at the same time benefiting the Saint Louis Class of 1987 Fallen Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund. Other forms of planned giving opportunities include various trusts, life insurance policies, and transfers of residence and personal property.
